The test I'm using more in my clinic and why

I don't often get overly excited about functional testing. To be honest, I don't use it a lot in my clinic. I'll run the odd stool test or hormonal panel here and there when I feel its important, but most of the time standard pathology testing and thorough case taking gives me more than enough to work with. BUT, recently I've been working more and more with genetic testing and WOW am I seeing some great results with my clients who feel like they've been struggling forever without getting answers.
If you've ever wondered why certain diets work brilliantly for some people but leave you feeling worse, or why your friend thrives on supplements that do nothing for you, the answer might be written in your genes.
Genetic testing has moved beyond ancestry exploration and into practical, actionable health insights. What I love about it, is we can get some real insights into the top few changes you can make (diet, lifestyle, supplements) to make the biggest difference to your health and your energy.
When I first mention genetic testing to people I often get the response that they 'don't want to know what they are destined for' but it's important to note that I'm not talking about testing your entire genome. Instead, we look at the genes and genetic pathways that you have some influcence over.
Despite what you've been told, your genes don't determine your destiny, but they do influence how your body processes nutrients, manages inflammation, detoxifies hormones, and responds to stress. Think of your genes as the instruction manual your body is working from. While lifestyle, diet, and environment can modify how those instructions are carried out (this is called epigenetics), understanding the baseline instructions helps explain individual differences in health responses.
I wont dive too deep into the weeds here and send you cross-eyed.... but a genetic test might be really useful for you if:
You're suffering with an autoimmune disease such as hashimotos or psoriasis
You've tried multiple diets/supplements/changes and nothing seems to be working
You're blood work is 'normal' but your feel anthing but
You're exhausted, hormonal, inflamed, overweight and confused about what your body needs
You're ready for some clear answers and actionable steps towards better health
The best bit about genetic testing is you only have to do it once and its an easy cheek swab test that can be performed on people of all ages. I include my favorite genetic test (by 3X4) in my Inner Code Package which runs over 5 months. It's a comprehensive package designed to find answers and get you well on your way to improving your health and feeling your best.
